about:
For an
organization that began with nothing more than a dream, a handful of
people, and a treasury of zero in late 1996, much has been achieved in
a very short time. This is a testament to what a community can do when
they work together toward a common goal.
Today the wildlife
hospital operates with a full time staff of volunteers daily, from 9am to 10pm
from late spring through late summer. This is when wildlife activity and
rescue calls are at their greatest peak in our area of Western New York.

From Late
Summer through to late Spring, we use the hospital on an "as needed"
basis due to the low wildlife volume. Our home care satellites provide
supportive care during our annual "slow season". During this
seasonal slower time Messinger
Woods concentrates on plans of improvement for next season, volunteer
solicitation and training, greater public education, fundraising, and
acquiring new equipment.
