Seiler, Secretary and Co-Director Does
Eagle Foundation Internship

Excerpts from
Judy's experience at the Eagle Foundation:
This week has been
very busy, but I have learned so much-- can't wait to see everyone and share the
videos and pictures.
Maya - a 3year old
Andean Condor and I have become quite good friends. She
doesn't like everyone -- most people in the barn, actually. Pete is very
happy she and I get along -- he said that he has hopes that she can stay and be
worked with. Up to now, she hasn't really allowed anyone else around her.
I
"walk" her from one enclosure to hers everyday, while she nibbles at
mice in my hand. It is a riot --- she is this huge, dopey bird, but the
cutest, fuzziest facet you could ever imagine. Yesterday, while she and I
were walking to her enclosure, this guy touring the barn got too close (about 5
feet away) and she started to leave my side and walk towards this guy showing
aggression -- hissing at him and flapping her wings. Pete ran right over
and got between them, turned her head towards me, and she just ran over to my
side and kept walking with me. Pete started to laugh - he thought the
whole thing was pretty funny -- I thought it was pretty amazing.
So far I have worked with eagles, both golden and bald, peregrine falcons, barn
owls, red tail hawk, barred owl, great horned owl, andean condor, black vulture,
turkey vulture, red shouldered hawk. told you it has been a busy week.
